Great live entertainment is an endangered species. It needs to be supported to survive. Don't let events like those that come here to north central Ohio, or near to where you live, fade away.
Purchasing "Advance Tickets" is encouraged. It helps us to get a feel for the potential size of the audience, and it helps you by allowing for a discount off the "Day of Event" price. You must get payment to us in "Advance"of the Day of the Event to qualify. Send check or money order to Highlands of Ohio, 480 Edgewood Road, Mansfield, OH 44907. You can also drop payment off in the mailbox at our house. Include a self addressed stamped envelope if you want tickets mailed back to you, otherwise they will be held for you to pick them up when you arrive at the concert. ----------------------------------------------------

Those of you who enjoyed the concerts at the Cafe in Pumpkin Hollow, we hope you will join us up the street at the Unitarian Universalist Church where we are continuing our concert series.

For any number of reasons, not many of us will miss 2011. And that means we can look forward to a better 2012. Can't we???
In regard to music events, we will be starting off in early February. Not just "starting off" actually, but "jumping off ".
Several years ago we hosted Beppe Gambetta and he astounded us with his performance. With as busy a schedule as an artist such as Beppe has, it is never known if he will be traveling back through our area again. He is! And we will be hosting him at the UU church on Wednesday, February 8th, 7:30 pm.
Exactly the same thing is to be said about our next concert. The opportunities to have such outstanding talent come infrequently, so when they present themselves, we feel we have to grab on and hold tight and hope our concert goers understand and do the same.
Alasdair Fraser an Natalie Haas will again be performing at the UU church! Last year they insisted on doing their show "unplugged" as they recognized the great acoustics of the room. It was a resounding success and has led us to continue with the "unplugged" format for our events.
This where the "understanding" part comes into play for all of you. This show will be on Thursday, February 9th, at 7:30. Yes, that means it is the day after Beppe's show. We try to put some space in between our shows, but we could not pass up these opportunites. We hope you will not pick one or the other. You will certainly enjoy them both.
Think of the situation this way... During these difficult times, we have cut back on the number of shows we do during the year. Instead of shows being several months apart, we've squeezed them into one month. Into one week actually. Ok, right next to each other. Please do come out for these shows.
Here is an incentive. If you pay in advance for both shows, the regular price would be $27, but we will charge $25.

Sara Pajunen's unique fiddle playing is the common thread in the music, a meld of technique and nuance. Jonathan Rundman adeptly adds various instruments from acoustic guitar to his Grandfather's tenor banjo. Pajunen’s classical training and flirtations with avant-garde string arrangements blend with her dedication to the Finnish pelimanni fiddle tradition. Rundman mixes the harmonic structures of Nordic hymnody with a rough Americana sensibility and hints of '70s-era progressive rock. With guest-star master fiddler Arto Järvelä of legendary Finnish folk group JPP touring with Kaijama, the audience will get an outstanding taste of Nordic folk music.
